San Francisco - Smartphone modular Project Ara bukanlah sekedar konsep. Karena Google selaku pemiliknya tampak serius mengembangkan konsep ini hingga bisa dipasarkan secara massal.
Slashgear melansir, Google baru saja mengumumkan konferensi Project Ara yang akan digelar April mendatang. Rencananya Google bakal meluncurkan perangkat tersebut secara komersil setidaknya pada kuartal pertama 2015.
Project Ara adalah proyek yang bertujuan menciptakan platform terbuka smartphone berbentuk modular, sehingga Anda bisa menambahkan dan mengurangi spesifikasi perangkat sesuai kebutuhan Anda.
Konsep smartphone modular mungkin adalah impian semua pecinta gadget. Dengan desain yang memisahkan setiap komponen di dalamnya, smartphone ini akan mempermudah perbaikan.
Project Ara juga memungkinkan pengguna memilih hardware untuk smartphone yang diinginkan, bukan sekedar kustomisasi warna dan pola aksesoris seperti yang ditawarkan Motorola Moto X.
Awalnya Google menyematkan Project Ara ini ke Motorola. Namun, setelah Motorola dijual ke Lenovo pada bulan lalu, proyek ini diambil alih langsung oleh Google. [kun]
